The Bible Is God's WordThe standard of judgment by which we test 'all things' (1 Thess. 5:21) is the truth, God's Word the Bible. (John 17:17; Isa. 8:20) Everyone has a final authority and an absolute truth to base their judgment. For Christians this is the Holy Bible The Bible is the most exceptional book ever written. It is written without contradictions. Predictions in the Bible case true. It is "God-breathed" (2 Tim. 3.16) which simply states it came from God who is true (ROM. 3:4). The men who wrote the Bible were "carried along by the Holy Spirit" (2 Pet. 1:21). The Bible was written by men under the influence of the Holy Spirit from God (Mark 12:36; Ps. 110:1; Acts 1:161 Acts 4:24-25; Heb. 3:7; Heb. 10:15-16). When Jesus was engaged in battle with Satan, He said three times, "It is written." (Matt. 4:4,7,10) The Bible is our measuring rod. The Bible is true and has stood the test of time. The Bible is translated correctly. Jesus said that one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled' (Matt.5:18) "And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail' (Luke 16:17). Jesus stated in the Bible that his word was scripture (Luke 24:44). Jesus also said , "The scripture cannot be broken" (John 10:35). And God stated his word would not return to him void: "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: It shall not return unto me void, but It shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." (Isaiah 55:11) "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction In righteousness:" (2 Tim. 3:16) "The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, 0 Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever." (Psalms 12:6-7) How do we answer those who say there has been a great apostasy and the Bible is not reliable because it has not been translated correctly? The present Bible text is reliable. The original copies of the Old Testament were written on leather or papyrus and painstakingly copied to assure accuracy. The Dead Sea Scrolls gave us an early Hebrew text to compare and check for accuracy. The Septuagint. the Aramaic Targums, the Latin translation of Jerome all give us support that no errors are in the old Testament. More than 5000 ancient manuscripts of the New Testament exist from seventy five papyri fragments, Codex Sinaiticus, Codex Vaticanus, Codex Alexandrinus, and thousands of supporting lectionaries and quotations in letters from thatage to assure us the Bible is an accurate and reliable text. Archeology supports the Bible. There has not been a single case of archeology proving the Bible to be in error. "Thus saith the Lord" is used over 2500 times in the Bible. God speaks in the Bible (Exod. 31:18; 32:16). God speaks through prophets, messengers, and men (Heb. 1:1; 2:2-3; Luke 1:70; Num. 12:6,8). God inspired men to speak or write (Mark 12:36; 2 Pet. 1:21). The Bible commands Christians to test all men who claim to be prophets (Deut. 23:1-3; 18:20-22; Matt. 7:15-20) and to test all men who claim to be apostles of god. (Rev. 2:2) UC are to test the spirits. (1 John 4:1) In fact, we are to test 'all thin as.' (2 Thess. 5:21). The standard of judgment by which we test 'all things' is the truth, God's word, the Bible (John 17:17; Is. 8:20). THERE WAS NO GREAT APOSTASY "And I (Jesus) say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock 1 will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." (Matthew 16:28) "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." (Matthew 28:20) "and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, 1 will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." (Hebrews 13:5)
GOD'S WORD WAS NOT LOST "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever." (Isaiah 40:8) "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away." (Matthew 24:35) "But the word of the Lord endureth forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you." (1 Peter 1:25) The conclusion is that the Bible comes from God. God's word will not return to him void. There was no great apostasy and the word of the Lord endures forever Back to No Comparison or The Bible |
