About the Audio of the LDS Temple Ceremony

It may surprise our readers, but there are several different recordings of the LDS endowment ceremony. The one used on our site was made in 1984 by a former Mormon named Larry Cozad at the temple in Provo, Utah. Larry actually realized that the Mormon church was false on his own and recorded the ceremony of his own free will prior to leaving the LDS church. His audio recording is actually a compilation of several different trips to the Mormon temple. Larry made the trip to record the ceremony several times in order to get the best quality audio track possible of each section of the ceremony. Vince Hoffer sent me a copy of this audio recording in the middle of 2003 at my request. His site, which gave in depth details regarding the ceremony went down later that year, but can still be viewed at this link. His site was the initial inspiration for this section of our site.

Another infamous recording was made in the Los Angeles Mormon temple. A former Mormon made this recording after he was excommunicated! At no time during the process of entering the temple and making the recording did ANY members of the LDS church show that they were aware that an "apostate" of the Mormon faith was in their very temple. This recoding was later used to aid Chuck Sackett in the writing of What’s Going On In there?

After the changes in 1990 at least one recording was made and given to Jerald and Sandra tanner of Utah Lighthouse Ministry. This recording shows the massive alterations that were made to the endowment ceremony in that year.

Clips of the 1984 version can be heard online. We have compiled a several and used them in the comparison of the 1984 and the 1990 versions of the endowment ceremony. To listen to the entire ceremony use one of the links below. Windows Media Player is required.
