The Endowment CeremonyThe endowment ceremony is by far the most lengthy of the LDS temple rituals. The ceremony is a reenactment of the Mormon version of the creation of the world and the fall of humanity. In times past it was acted out as a play. With the advent of technology most temples show the ceremony on video tape. The reader will note that we have posted four versions of the endowment ceremony on our site. A visible comparison is made between the 1984 and 1990 versions only. Other comparisons to the 1879 and 1931 version can be made by the reader at their leisure. The changes made to the endowment ceremony in 1990 are discussed as are the differences between the endowment ceremony and the teachings of the Bible. For more information we recommend reading Evolution of the Mormon Temple Ceremony: 1842-1990 by Jerald and Sandra Tanner. Copies of this revealing work can be purchased in our online bookstore.
